Primary Duties/Responsibilities

  • Support customer development, research and answer technical questions
  • Test and deliver custom tuned recognition data files to customers
  • Create and maintain a wiki/knowledge base of support information
  • Write and maintain design guides and other documentation

Seeking an organized, detail-oriented individual with an interest in speech technology to bring creativity to speech data collection. Must have strong interpersonal skills and must be able to work independently, quickly learn to use new tools and technologies, and travel, internationally and domestically.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Identify and work with various organizations to acquire speech data, recruit speakers, and coordinate data collection

Job Description

The Computer Vision Engineering Lead is a hands-on role to develop and implement image processing algorithms that will combine with speech recognition technology to create improved user experiences in consumer and mobile electronic products. The Lead will launch Sensory's expansion into vision technology and will build a small group and/or work with outside consultants or other vision companies to rapidly deploy solutions that will go to market in large volume a pplications.

Requirements/Preferences/Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering required
  • MS or Ph.D. from top school preferred
  • 5 -10 years' experience hands on designing, writing, and testing embedded Real-time C/C++ software and algorithms in MATLAB and OpenCV
  • Experience in product development using computer vision and image processing algorithms
  • Strong familiarity with open source vision software libraries
  • Understanding of feature extraction, image detection and tracking, face identification/verification, demographic (e.g. gender and age) detection, and lip tracking preferred

Seeking Linguist with interest in speech technology. Must be able to juggle multiple projects and priorities, and very organized with strong attention to detail. Must be a fast learner interest in phonetics, phonology and technical concepts. Must be comfortable with customer interaction.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities

  • Develop, tune and test speaker-independent recognition sets and speech prompts for customer projects.
  • Recruit and record internal participants for tuning and testing of speech recognition sets for customer and internal projects
  • Recruit participants for QA testing of tuned recognition sets for customer and internal projects.
  • Review recognition vocabulary lexical properties and menu structure for optimal customer product performance.
  • Interact with customers to provide guidance on dialogue design and recognition set makeup for optimal speech recognition success rate
  • Work with Sensory engineers to deliver project vocabularies, translations, speech prompts, etc on schedule.
  • Assist with QA testing of Sensory's QT2SI (Quick Text-to-Speaker-Independent) recognition set building tool and other Linguistics tools and provide feedback and bug reports to Engineering.
  • Responsible for sourcing TTS voice talents auditions, assist in selection of voices

Requirements and Preferences

  • B.A./B.S. in Linguistics required; M.A in Linguistics preferred
  • 1-5 years total job experience with demonstrated focus in linguistics required
  • Excellent understanding of phonological and phonetic concepts required
  • Ability to interpret spectrograms and transcribe in IPA required

Software Programming

  • Implements speech recognition, synthesis, and voice processing algorithms and related software on hardware platforms, including Sensory chips.
  • Evaluates hardware platforms for feasibility of implementing Sensory technologies.
  • "Ports" existing technology software to various platforms including DSPs.
  • Develops and maintains in-house and customer tools to support the application of Sensory technologies.
  • Defines and implements simulations and scripts for validating, evaluating, and improving the performance of Sensory technologies.

Technology Algorithms

  • Learns and understands existing proprietary voice algorithms in depth.
  • Collaborates with the theoretical algorithms development group in the development and improvement of speech recognition, synthesis, and voice processing algorithms.
  • Requirements

    • MS in EE or CS.
    • Five years programming experience in product development.
    • Proficiency in assembly language and embedded "C", demonstrated by a past primary programming role in one or more fully-released products.
    • Proven ability to work creatively in small teams and solo; equally adept at high-level algorithmic software design and low-level code optimization.
    • Ability to develop software from existing code, detailed specification, or general conceptual outline.
