Position Title: Senior Research Scientist
Job Code: 14-20 - Location: Position can be remote

As a Senior Research Scientist within Sensory's Vision Technologies team, you will bring your intelligence and drive to our patented and award-winning speech and vision technologies.

Sensory (www.sensoryinc.com) is a leader in providing speech recognition technologies for consumer products. We've recently established a Vision Technologies team to create innovative new products that combine Sensory's speech technology with world-class computer vision. That's where you come in. We're looking for an exceptional Research Scientist with deep knowledge in face recognition and related areas to join our small team of topnotch researchers located in Boulder CO. You'll have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge mobile and desktop applications with real-world applications - Sensory's speech technology has shipped in over half a billion units, and we want to do the same with our vision technology.

Performance Objectives

Here's what you'll do when you join the Sensory Vision team:

  • Extend and improve our existing algorithms: help us continue to improve our face recognition and speech technologies, improving accuracy, robustness and ease of use.
  • Create new vision-based biometrics: help us deepen the connections between voice and face by looking at things like lip tracking, or exploring 3-D face recognition.
  • Extend our technologies: take us beyond biometrics or computer vision, in areas such as demographics, lip reading, gesture recognition, and sensor fusion. Bring your ideas on what can be done to leverage our existing technology and then make those ideas real, whether it involves taking existing algorithms off the shelf or inventing new ones in house.
  • Provide technology leadership: we're innovators - that's what makes us successful. We need someone who is going to bring vision and technical knowledge to help us maintain our industry leadership. You will need to keep track of new developments in computer vision and bring them to bear on our problems.

Qualifications

  • You have a passion for algorithms. You follow trends in the industry and peruse various signal processing magazines. You've contributed your own papers, and hopefully filed patents as well. As a result, you are intimately familiar with a wide array of video processing and machine learning methods.
  • You understand deeply why designing the algorithm itself is just one part of delivering a real solution. There are lots of reasons for this: your test data never quite covers what you will actually experience in the field, there are almost always considerations related to bandwidth or processing power or something else that put constraints on what you can do, and the calibration and configuration steps cannot require the end user to obtain a Ph.D. to complete. But these are challenges you relish.
  • You'll need some solid programming experience. We work primarily in C/C++ and Matlab. If you've done those, that's great, but we mostly just need to be convinced that you understand algorithm optimization issues, are comfortable with OOP, and understand issues related to speed and footprint of the code you write.
  • There's lots of buzz about security and biometrics, and Sensory is perfectly positioned to be a major player in making that vision reality. So if you've thought seriously about how to approach this, then you'll find opportunities here to try those ideas out.

Position Title: QA Automation Engineer
Job Code: 14-19 - Location: Boulder, CO

As a QA Automation Engineer within Sensory's Vision Technologies team, you will bring your intelligence and drive to our patented and award-winning speech and vision technologies.

Sensory is a leader in providing speech recognition and UX technologies for consumer products. We've recently established a Vision Technologies team to create innovative new products that combine Sensory's award winning speech products with world-class computer vision technology. That's where you come in. Join our small team of topnotch researchers located in Boulder CO, and you'll have the opportunity to work on cutting edge mobile and desktop applications. Demonstrate initiative and intelligence, and you'll have the chance to get involved in any and all aspects of our research and development process.

Performance Objectives

Here are some of the areas you can be involved in when you join the Sensory Vision team:

  • Quality assurance: perform black box and white box testing for mobile and desktop applications.
  • Test automation: create automated tests to cover key functionality.
  • Analytic testing: working closely with the research team, create tests (manual and automated) to confirm system accuracy and performance.
  • Manage outsourced QA teams: help track and integrate results from external testing.
  • Data collection: facilitate and manage data collection efforts for research purposes.
  • Product development: work closely with both in house and external development teams, providing feedback on usability, design, etc.
  • Release management: help create processes to facilitate new releases, working closely with Sensory Sales and Support teams.
  • Customer interaction: work closely with Sensory's Vision Technologies customers (handset manufacturers, app developers, etc.) to ensure optimal results.

Qualifications

  • You love trying out new software and electronics, and you think deeply about how it could be done better, from bugs or UI tweaks, to more general user experience questions. You are probably very familiar with both iOS and Android devices because you are just curious about how they compare, and maybe even Windows Mobile.
  • You are detail oriented when it comes to testing something, looking at all the possible ways in which the experience of the end user might be compromised.
  • You may have a CS degree or something similar, but if you don't, you have probably taught yourself some programming, and you definitely understand the logic behind how software works (or, as is often the case, doesn't work). You may even have used that programming knowledge to automate testing for other applications.
  • You are capable of interacting with a diverse set of people (in this case, it could be our researchers and developers, our sales and support teams, our partners and our customers) on highly technical issues.
