Speech Recognition SDK now Available on Symbian OS-based Series 60 & 80 SmartPhones
Santa Clara, CA. June 21, 2005. ...Sensory, Inc., the world leader in embedded speech technology, today announced that it has joined the Symbian Platinum Program to support the growing market for smartphones based on Symbian OS™. As a Platinum Partner, Sensory is extending its expertise in embedded speech recognition to the Symbian OS ecosystem. Symbian develops and licenses Symbian OS, the operating system that powers today’s most popular smartphones. Symbian OS is licensed by the world’s leading mobile phone manufacturers.
"The release of Sensory’s FluentSoft™ SDK for Symbian OS reflects our commitment to supporting the leading wireless handset operating system and hardware," said Todd Mozer, CEO of Sensory. "By becoming a Symbian Platinum Partner, we can further expand the market for speech recognition interfaces and strengthen our relationships with users, application developers, and smartphone manufacturers.”
Sensory will be able to offer Symbian OS developers an intuitive user interface using large vocabulary speaker independent recognition, continuous digit recognition, handset command and control, text-to-speech playback, and animated speech. By becoming a Symbian Platinum Partner, Sensory ensures the close integration of its speech recognition solutions with smartphones based on Symbian OS, providing simple and powerful capabilities for mobile operators looking to deploy speech applications and deliver multimedia content to mobile users.
Sensory’s years of experience with embedded speech make its technology a natural for smartphone integration,” said Simon Garth, vice president of marketing, Symbian. “We are pleased to have Sensory join the Symbian Platinum Program and bring their FluentSoft SDK to the Symbian ecosystem.”
With the FluentSoft SDK, recognition sets can be dynamically built on the device and are created using text-based input that does not require training. Qualified Beta testers who would like to develop speech recognition applications on Symbian OS can apply for a free, single-user development-only license of the FluentSoft SDK.
