Sensory Releases RSC-4x Rapid Prototyping Module

New tool accelerates time-to-concept for speech-enabled products

Sunnyvale, Calif. June 27, 2006. ...Sensory, Inc., the world leader in embedded speech technologies, today released the RSC-4x Rapid Prototyping Module (RPM). The RPM simplifies development of speech-enabled products by integrating all key components into a convenient 40-pin DIP footprint module. This unit is small enough to fit into many existing consumer products for accurate demonstration of the finished product’s capabilities. The RPM is a prototyping tool designed for developers who will ultimately be creating product system designs that feature RSC-4x processor chips in quantity.

The heart of the RPM is the RSC-4128 integrated circuit, the latest member of Sensory’s award winning RSC family of mixed signal processors that provide speech recognition, synthesis and system control on a single chip. All of the additional components required for a functional speech recognition system are squeezed into the RPM’s ultra-compact footprint, including 32Mbit serial data Flash memory and 4Mbit code Flash. This allows Sensory’s entire FluentChip™ technology library to be utilized, including Record and Playback, along with lots of extended speech or music.

Programming the RSC-4x family of mixed signal processors requires a PC, the FluentChip™ technology library, a hardware development system (i.e. Phyton’s In-Circuit Emulator or Sensory’s new RSC-4x Demo/Evaluation V2 Board) and specialized software tools for project management, vocabulary development and code generation. FluentChip™ provides high-accuracy speech recognition, speaker verification, speech compression and output, music synthesis, and diagnostic and utility programs for all members of the RSC-4x family. International vocabulary development is accelerated with Quick T2SI™, a patent-pending tool for Speaker Independent design that uses text input to create recognition sets in multiple languages in seconds. Powerful tools like QuickSynthesis™ 4 compress digital recordings of speech prompts and supports easy scoring of MIDI-like music. Sensory also has strategic partners that offer C-compilers for efficient programming and an Integrated Development Environment for easy project management.

Developers can design and debug their code using one of the preferred development platforms, and then transfer their code to the RPM via the Module Programming Board (MPB). The RPM can then be removed from the MPB and plugged directly into the prototype for real world testing and demos. In-circuit reprogramming is also supported.

The RPM costs $68 per module, and the Module Programming Board is priced at $70. Both are available to order directly from Sensory using this order form.
