Sensory Announces New Time-Setting Technology

FluentChip™ 3.1 Includes Ability to Set Clocks with Natural Voice Commands

Sunnyvale, CA. December 11, 2007. ...Sensory, Inc., the leader in speech technologies for consumer products, today announced an update to its FluentChip™ firmware. FluentChip v3.1 includes TimeSet™, a technology that allows any RSC-4x enabled device with a clock to have its time set using natural spoken phrases. Sensory's low-cost RSC-4x chips already make millions of consumer electronics devices more intelligent by enabling them to talk and hear with speech synthesis, voice recognition, and other advanced audio and interactive technologies. Now, the RSC-4x chips can even eliminate the confusing manner in which digital clocks are programmed.

No More Blinking 12:00 on the VCR
Ever since the first home video recording devices were introduced in the '60's, setting the time and recording options have been common consumer problems. Built-in recording functions are seldom used and the clock always seems to be permanently set to "eternal midnight." According to David LaGesse in U.S. News and World Report, most VCR owners have never learned to set the clock, much less schedule a recording for later. He points out that even the latest DVD recorders still have this time-setting problem.

With the advent of TimeSet from Sensory, consumer devices can now be programmed using natural speech input. TimeSet is unique in that it doesn't require any user or device training, or an unusual sequence of spoken commands or discrete input of digits. A person can now simply say "twelve-thirty-seven PM", or "six AM." Any device, such as an alarm clock, microwave oven, thermostat, coffee maker, or DVR outfitted with an RSC-4x chip can be programmed quickly and accurately without the hassle of holding down hidden or multiple buttons. A video demonstration can be seen on YouTube.

FluentChip Powers World's Most Versatile Speech Chip
Sensory's FluentChip technology library offers an incredible range of capabilities on Sensory's very small footprint, low-cost RSC-4x family of integrated circuits. In addition to TimeSet, developers also get speech recognition, music and speech synthesis, record and playback, a sonic network, and interactive robotic features like lip syncing and beat detection to give products life-like qualities.

Sensory offers a complete set of development tools for integrating its technologies into any consumer electronic product. Software tools include Quick T2SI™, the only tool to allow development of speaker independent recognition vocabularies in seconds (in multiple languages) from text-based input of desired commands. Multiple hardware platforms and chip options allow development of a wide range of intelligent electronic products, regardless of budget or quantity.
